This is the most annoying microwave ever! The band turns on automatically and is so loud. There is no way to turn off unless you unplug the microwave. If you cook something that is longer than 5 min then try to use it again after that it doesn't work. You have to wait for it to cool down.

I bought this microwave ~18 months ago thinking it would look nice and go well in my kitchen. Today the bottom of the door has started falling off. Customer service has told me there is simply nothing they can do and the only options I have are 1) buying a new microwave or 2) buying a replacement door which costs more than half the price of the microwave. Guess I won't be buying anymore whirlpool products. Save yourself the headache and get something that's actually decently made.

This is an excellent microwave to replace an older model that lasted 28 years. I like that is has a built in light feature as well as a fan to use above our oven / range. The light is not as bright and does offer a low and high medium setting. The filter for the fan is thin but is easy to remove and clean. It has great timing features! I would highly recommend this product if you are in need of an over the range microwave.

The placement of the microwave is very nice to have low. It does make it a bit difficult to clean and the glass on the bottom is hotter than typical microwave glass, so be careful! The sensors work great - especially reheating and the popcorn setting.

We have had our microwave installed and being used for a week now and so far, we are happy with its performance. Luckily, we were replacing an Amana microwave, so the installation went quite easily. I like the dark interior which will not show a stain as easily, if we were going to get one. The unit is also quieter than our other one. It is a nice microwave which goes well with our stove and easy to clean also.

Don™€™t Buy This Microwave! Door Falling Off™€¦

I only had this microwave for two months before the door started falling apart. Apparently this is a very common problem with this model and something that should probably be a recall. But the worst part of all of this is the lack of customer service. I™€™ve always owned Whirlpool appliances. In fact, I™€™ve purchased 6 major appliances from Whirlpool just in the past 4 years and the quality of the new ones is horrible. My fridge stopped making ice right after the 1 year warranty expired, my washing machine drum has seemed defective from the get-go but they insisted it was fine (I still don™€™t think it is), my dishwasher circulation pump stopped working after 3 years and the replacement cost is more than a new dishwasher - but when I try to get my microwave fixed, that™€™s very much still under warranty - it™€™s a trainwreck. My husband or I have spent nearly 5 hours on the phone with either Whirlpool or the Service Provider. Were told to wait 3-4 days for callbacks that never come, wait for parts to be ordered that never get ordered, and after 3 months of trying to get it fixed, the service provider being completely unresponsive for two of those, we™€™re still being told to wait. I have a broken, falling off, microwave door hanging over the top of my glass top stove being held up by duct tape praying it won™€™t fall off and shatter the stovetop or hurt one of my pets when it falls, no end in sight, and despite begging to just send me a new one (the service provider charges more to replace it than the microwave costs for crying out loud), I™€™m just being dragged along. I™€™ve loved this company for so long, I™€™ve recommended it to so many people and raved so much about my former set of appliances. What happened?

I bought this to replace an older model of basically the same exact microwave. It feels cheap in comparison. You have to slam the door to get it to close and the door feels as if it could break. The buttons are not the same as the old version--you have to push more buttons to do the same work. To me this is not time effective and seems like a step backwards as far as a new machine goes. It's odd that the interior is dark gray-you can hardly see in it at all. The light is very dim. All in all the microwave has a cheep feel to it and I wish I had chosen something else.

To put it simply...I'm a Whirlpool fan. In comparison to my old GE, which was already in the resale house purchased, this Whirlpool appliance makes using a microwave eezy-peezy! Open the door and the menu for functions and timing are at eye level. The exterior control panel features many functions that can quickly be activated with the push of a button. Don't want to hear the beeps for every button pushed or when the cycle ends?... just push a button on the panel and mute the sound. So glad that I no longer have to end a cycle before it ends, so that I don't disrupt family members that are still asleep. The exterior is modern and sleek but visuals are less important than the ease of use with every function featured. The interior is spacious and easy to keep clean. I'm a long time buyer of Whirlpool products...from my laundry units to my kitchen appliances, which include a new refrigerator and stove in addition to the microwave. And since I bought all three kitchen appliances together, I saved more money in the end. Now the last thing needed is the dishwasher!!

Exterior design is really modern. Interior and exterior lighting is too dim. Interior color is not a plus as it accentuates the dim lighting. Should upgrade lighting or allow easy instructions for allowing the customer to upgrade the lighting.

Replaced my 22 year old Whirlpool Gold Spacesaver microwave which was the best. It was our choice to be uused in our kitchen remodel. This model was the recommended replacement. (Why, I'll never know?) This new unit isn't solidly built, sounds "tinny" when opening or shutting the door , has no keyboard light, and instead of a bell it has a horrible sounding buzzer when cook time is finished. It even sounds cheaply made! It takes more time to heat using the same settings. I don't expect it will last too long . Previous unit was made in USA. This one Imported from China. Hate to say it, my bias, looks cheap, sounds cheap, and a real step down for whirlpool. China probably bought the name "whirlpool" but jettisoned the quality. They've done that with many USA name brands. Do your research.

Replaced a high end Whirlpool microwave that unfortunately died within a few years. Thought better of the brand but this basic model is super noisy and not much better than the original countertop models. Difficult to get appliances delivered and installed quickly these days or I would have shopped another brand. Whirlpool is not what is used to be.

Cooking in the Dark

My Whirlpool microwave was recommended by a trusted local appliance dealer. I was shown an older model and purchased this one sight unseen. It works beautifully, of course, but certain design elements are just annoying. First and foremost, the interior is dark charcoal gray. What were they thinking?? To make matters worse, there is one low-wattage bulb on the interior. So it is impossible to watch the item you're heating. I like that there is a mute button to avoid the beep every time a button is pushed. But at the end of each use, you must press "Cancel" to turn off the word "End" and return to the clock. Who thought that was a good idea? And finally, the clock. This probably wouldn™€™t bother most users, but my preference for precision demands that each of my kitchen clocks be in sync. But the auto-locking clock, five seconds after the time is entered, makes syncing unnecessarily tricky. Bottom line, I can't recommend this particular Whirlpool model.

Just got my new microwave...replacing a Whirlpool I had for 9 yrs. This one has lot of good options on it and will have to learn all about them. Price was very good also.

I bought this microwave as part of an appliance package. It was installed on December 18th. It no longer worked by January 11th. It is now January 22nd and I will be waiting until January 27th to see if the parts that were ordered to repair the blown mother board will fix the microwave. Whirlpool does NOT replace their defective items regardless of their age. If the repair is successful, I will have paid full price for a refurbished model and will have had a non-working appliance for over half of the time I have owned it. BUYER BEWARE. Whirlpool customer service will NOT try to help you. You will likely sit for HOURS on hold while you are passed from incompetent apathetic human to the next until they decide to hang up on you because it's "quittin time."

Clock issue
